Wonder how often this works — automated letter-to-the-editor submission web app

Ran across a web site tonight to help people get their letters to the editor published… multiple, multiple times… WonderVoice. “The idea behind WonderVoice is simple: enable writers to submit their work to multiple editors without the pain of having to do it one submission at a time.”

Unfortunately their signup verification script was busted, so no dice on getting my thoughts out there. The cool part of the service is they track which publication(s) actually ran your letters. They say they’ve got more than 500 publications in their database. There’s a free trial, and after that it’s $20 a month or $120 a year.

I’m pretty curious about a few things: How many people use this service, the overall rate of success, and which publications have the highest / lowest rate of success with letters sent via this company.

On the other side of the coin, I’m curious what percentage of letters to the editor published in newspapers these days come via e-mail. Most discerning publications can figure out when they’ve been mass-emailed a letter, but WonderVoice sends an individual email to each place, from the writer’s email address. There’s probably information buried in the headers of the email that would identify it came from WonderVoice, but I doubt those get looked at regularly.
